GYN Surgery

GYN Surgery

Dr. Michael Litrel, FACOG, FPMRS, leads our surgical team with laparoscopic techniques that have put Cherokee Women’s Health on the national map. Dr. Litrel studied under leading researchers and surgeons Dr. John Rock and Dr. Dan Thompson, as well as surgical pioneer Dr. Cullen Richardson in pelvic floor anatomy. He also studied under Dr. Bill Saye, one of the first gynecological surgeons to innovate laparoscopic surgery.

In addition to Dr. Litrel, Dr. James Haley is also board-certified in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (also called FPMRS). This is a subspecialty for physicians that allows them to be able to diagnose and treat conditions that affect the female pelvic organs, muscles, and connective tissues. This additional training goes above and beyond the regular obstetrical and gynecological training and focuses on both surgical and non-surgical treatment of gynecological problemsPhysicians who possess these credentials are also known as urogynecologists.
